ITINERARY
Days 1-2: Hanoi - Mai Chau
Arrive in Hanoi then the next day drive
through the mountains to MaiChauValley.
This picturesque destination is off the beaten path; interact with the local
people and gain amazing insight by staying with a hospitable hilltribe at their
longhouse. The surroundings are absolutely stunning; enjoy a walk through the
valley to learn more about the agriculture of the region.
Days 3-5: Hanoi
- HalongBay
Return to Hanoi
and discover the Old Quarter on a cyclo ride, the best way to get to know the
ancient laneways and local people. Discover historic Ba Dinh Square and take time at Ho Chi
Minh’s Mausoleum and Museum, and the One Pillar Pagoda. Spend a magical
afternoon cruising HalongBay, where you will enjoy
a seafood lunch and a swim (weather permitting).
Days 6-7: Hanoi
- Hue
Reunification Express & Hue An exciting overnight train will bring you
to Hue, Vietnam’s imperial capital. Visit
the Citadel, seat of power during the Nguyen Dynasty, as well as the tombs of
former emperors. A dragon boat will deliver you down the PerfumeRiver from one of the most sacred
temples in all of Vietnam;
enjoy a cool drink at sunset as other boats pass by.
Days 8-9: Hoi An
Hoi An’s architecture, delicacies and friendly local people make her a true VietnamThuBonRiver by boat at sunset. In your free
time visit the beautiful beach just a few kilometres outside of the AncientTown, have some clothing tailored by the
experts at one of the countless shops and maybe take in a cooking demonstration
at one of the tasty restaurants in town.

Days 10-12: Hoi An - Danang - Saigon
In Saigon get to know the sites and sounds of Vietnam’s most exciting city. A
walking tour past some of the iconic sites in District One, such as the Opera
House and Hotel de Ville, will help you get acquainted with Ho Chi Minh City. Travel to the Cu Chi
Tunnels and learn about the tenacity and resilience of the Vietnamese. The
dining, shopping and night life options are endless in Saigon;
there is truly something for everyone to love about this city.
Days 13-14: Mekong
Delta - Chau Doc town
Drive to the heart of the Mekong, Can Tho,
and see the famed floating markets. This fertile region is known as the ‘rice
basket’ of Vietnam,
and is where most of the country’s produce and rice is produced. Continue on to
Chau Doc by speedboat, your stylish French-colonial hotel in this frontier town
sure to impress. In true James Bond style, your speedboat will whisk you across
the border, all the way to the Cambodian capital.
Days 15-16: Chau Doc - Phnom Penh by boat
Phnom Penh Your boat journey continues
upriver to Phnom Penh, where you will discover
the RoyalPalace,
Silver Pagoda, NationalMuseum and learn about the Khmer Rouge at TuolSlengMuseum. You will have
some free time to indulge in the vibrant riverside café and restaurant scene,
or perhaps wander the Central Market and Russian Market in pursuits of a
bargain. A cyclo ride at dusk will help you get your bearings in this quiet
capital.
Days 17-21: Phnompenh - Siemreap
A scenic drive along an ancient highway will bring you to Skuon, a small
town renowned for its interesting regional cuisine. Wat Kua Nokor provides your
first glimpse into the KhmerKingdom of old, and colonial-era architecture gives
way to modern Siemreap, home to the temples of Angkor.
Explore the highlights, as well as the outer-lying temples and Tonle SapLake. Depart on day 21.
